Fortune paper doll ??

Friday, August 25th, 2006

This is another picture from Takayama. I must have taken this on the old private houses street. but I could’t remember what it was. my friend said it looks like a fotune paper doll(you insert changes, then the doll shakes the container and gives you a fortune paper)…but I just don’t remember!

I might have some clues to remember if it was taken from the front… but this weird pic from the side really bothers me…

if anyone knows about it, please help me :)

Miyamae-bashi Torii(shrine gate)(Takayama)

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

Hi. I was in an obon vacation. Obon is a big family gathering time besides new year’s holidays. it’s been really hot all over Japan. This heat takes my energy away by eating “Kakigori(bowls of shaved ice with syrup. my favorite is macha and some condensed milk)”.
Anyway, I found some more pictures I took in Takayama.
This is a shrine gate at the end of Miyamaebashi which leads toward the entrance of Sakurayama Hachimangu shrine. it really stands out as it is built in the middle of bridge. I saw some people were taking pictures from the same direction.

Jinrikisha(Rickshaw in Takayama)

Saturday, August 12th, 2006

I saw rickshaws often in downtown Takayama. These are offered for tourists. you can hire a rickshaw to get around in the city. A ricksha man will draw a ricksha to show you around. I always worried about the ricksha man when he is pulling big people.

Apparently, this course is usually offered for 15 mins, 30 mins and an hour for two to three people, which also costs 3,000 yen, 5,000 yen and 10,000 yen for each. it would cost more for three. so when you feel tired of walking or when you wanna feel what a celeb is like to be, it might be a good idea to take a richshaw tour. by the way, I found a beautiful rickshaw picture from this site.
