meter high 'Kannon' was masterfully carved
into a wall of Oya Stone; above and over the
statue's shoulder a panoramic view of Oya
Town is worth any visitor's climbing effort. A
historical museum depicts the mining
history of
Utsunomiya with an
impressive underground mining space of
20,000 square meters extending a full 60 m
below ground level that retains a cool
temperature of 8℃ throughout the year.
Visitors are astonished by its size and surreal
atmosphere.
