| OKAYAMA CITY |
 |
Okayama City is a thriving commercial, industrial and cultural hub in Chugoku District in
Western Japan. Nationally renowned 'Korakuen Garden' is a source of great local pride; as well,
it is a major gateway to Inland Sea National Park and Shikoku, the nation's fourth largest island.
The area is favored by beautiful landscapes and a natural setting that offers a different look with
each passing season. Numerous landmarks dot the city, including historic Okayamajo Castle
and one of Japan's three most admired parks in 'Korakuen Garden' constantly improved and
renewed since the 1700s. Other top-notch attractions are several excellent art museums. Fresh
and deliciously prepared seafood available only from Seto Inland Sea and delectable local fruit
in season will amply satisfy the visitor with a gourmet's penchant for fine cuisine. Full of
surprises and an exciting destination, Okayama is progressing steadily as a transportation hub
for the entire Chugoku-Shikoku region via convenient air, rail and highway infrastructure.
